The problem with Sig.files is the annoying habit of people placing large images in there.
These images make the pages with numerous posts very top heavy and slow to lod for thos of us un dialup.
Also, the greatly increase bandwidth usage and somebody has to pay for this bandwidth which righ now is one of the very generous Admins. who hosts our forum at no charge.
At the moment, we are installing a script mod which will severely limit, if not exclude images in Sig. files. However, there is a glitch of some sort with the modified code right now and the sig. files have gone away entirely.
The boys are working on this and they will re-appear in due course sans images.

Awesome..
Some of the other forums i'm part of have a limit on this as well. usually a size limit and the mods will tell you off or just delete it if its too big.. its a bit of work to manage but its fairly simple.
At the end of the day though, if a sig is over say 500x130pixels its going to cause troubles.. so i can see why you chopped them..
Thanks for response dude. cleared it up nicely.

Yer could have done it the old fashioned way but this seemd an elegant method to do it.
The script allows to select a fixed number of images (or none) or it allows the image to be "converted" intop a URL you can click on to view the image, ste the image file size and physical dimensions.
Just saves having to mete out the justice at times!

The issue of images in Sigs. has been discussed at length very early on by the admin. and we have decided to dissallow images in sigs in order to help keep bandwidth usage in check and keep up the speed of page loading.
The never ending images simply load up pages with unnecessary data making them slow to load for those of us with dialup only and they suck bandwidth mrecilessly which somebody has to pay for.
Our server space and bandwidth is generously donated to us by Tarragon Allen out of his own pocket.
So, bottom line is that images in Sigs wont happen in the forseable future.
