Front shock absorbers

Post by N12turbo_DK2300 »

Hi
I'm about to order new front shock absorbes, but realize there is different P/N for E15S and E15ET cars. Huh? Any ideas what the difference would be?
I already stole several of the parts (hubs, current shocks etc) from a non ET...

Btw going new - would you go for oil or gas?

hey,
the ET dampers have higher damping rates for both directions.

I always thought the gas type are the better ones.
This must noch be true, as i read a some time ago...

cheers

So far my hunt for new dampers are going south...
I found no (current) thirdparty part with the ET partnumbers - only non ET.
I ordered a pair of Gabriel Gas dampers from a Danish shop (I live in Denmark), but after a few days they called me and said the vendor couldn't deliver after all (sucks...).
Then I ordered some AL-KO dampers from ebay in Germany.... and after a few days, I got a full money retur, as they couldn't deliver.
Of well... next will by KYB oil dampers from the UK.

That's a pity :-(
Where did you find the KYBs?

There was a writeup in the internet about fitting VW (or similar) inserts to the B11/N12 struts, but i cant find it anymore :-(
