I'm brand new to this forum ...and the proud owner of a rusty Nissan Cherry Turbo N12 (as it is called in Europe).


Im considering installing a head from a E15S, on my E15ET block. From what I could see parts on valves, valve rockers etc.. everything.. is the same, so should work?

I could find the code on my old head to be correct, but the new head doesnt have any code at all (???) - but it was taking from a E15S engine, but you never know what previous owners did in the last 30 years...
E15S head should (from the article) be with high swirl intake ports.


Anyway: E15S head on a E15ET engine?

i had an e15s block with e15et head, that worked fin, so it should work the other way around,

are you swapping for any reason in particular? purely due to availability?

My current head does have some damages (discovered at las rebuild), plus this makes for the option of building a complete "new" enige, while still using the old one.
Everything is acutally prepared - just needs to put them together - and this was where I started getting cold feet :-/
My logic after comparing all partnumbers on nissan4u.com, told me the head should be the same (no P/N on the head, but everything attached to it...), until I found the article in this forum. I can identify the "15M" head, but no identification on the other.

Any head will fit right on.
You just have to watch for valve/piston clearances.

But since you are using an E15s head on an ET engine, clearance will hardly be an issue.
The only thing that will vary much is the combustion chamber volume.

By just doing an optical inspection, I couldn't see any differences. And everything has boltet on just fine Just hope everything can handle the 100+HP instead of 75.
The article I linked to, talk about the 15s head has some "high swirl intake" as the 15et head would have low swirl. Would that mean anything?

Thanks for the input so far. As I'm half way there, and summer holiday is up (and the DK summer this year is rubbish, so why not spend it in the garage) -I'll think I will give it a shot

If the head is off an E15s, (11m) then its slightly lower compression that the E15 (15m) head.
the "high swirl" ports are a port that direct the incoming charge around a corner to create more "swirl" as the gas charge enters the valve area and combustion chamber.
these heads will bolt straight on but are a bit restrictive compared with the 15m head with its direct path to the valve.
Secondly, the inlet manifold may have somewhat different port shapes to the 15m head so you may need to grub the head out to match the manifold ports. I cant confirm this tho. Depends if the E15s was efi or not.

EFI E15S? All E15S motors are carbie, thats what the 'S' stands for. Carbie


E15E is the code you're searching for, which have the 15M Head also.

So bad of me to not get back with the result...
...so time to do so now

The operation went well, and the engine purrs like a kitten. Everything fitted together just fine, and the engine is great again. Wohoo!
It also passed the Danish version of MOT and became street legal

It is currently stored in a barn during winter, waiting for the spring to come (which should be soon).
