Injectors, T28 and Nisstune questions

Post by AntsET »

Hi to all,
I am fitting a T28 to my N12 Et Turbo and was wondering if its possible
To get 160kws ATW's with this turbo?
If so what would be the perfect sized injectors for my standard fuel rail?
I live in victoria and there is an opportunity
For me to get my standard ECU tune on a dyno with NISSTUNE.
They quoted my $700 for the tune on a dyno.
And finally, what cam would be best for this power?
Just want a expert opinion on what I am trying to accomplish.

Cheers Anthony

Ps..... I'm on a budget LOL!!

Oh and I forgot to mention what I have on my car already.

2 1/2 inch exhaust with dump pipe
Vl turbo throttle body
AFM relocation with decent pod filter
Rebuilt motor

Expert opinion! :D Opinions maybe.

O.K, first things first. The turbo 'may' be able to make that power if it is from a SR20 or similar. You will be pushing 20psi though.

160kw will need minimum 1.2-1.3 ltrs per minute, + 15% accounting for 85% D/C gives 1.5 ltrs min or 375cc per injector. So a set of proper CA18DETs (375cc) or FJ20DETs (400ish) or bosch 015's/024's/036's@440cc will go into the standard rail and be able to flow the juice you will need.
You will probably need a new fuel pump, or inline helper pump to keep the pressure upto the injectors at that boost.
For that power I would think a stock cam will do the job. If you mess with the cam, the engine becomes harder to tune and all around less pleasant to peddle around.
If you can get someone to Niztune the thing as you suggest, that would be great, but I think there won't be scope in the AFM to tune top end power correctly. (It would be interesting to see what they do with the maps to bandaid this.) But, they could get crafty and install a twin AFM to act as a dummy to halve the load and double the scope!

Either way, keep us posted.

I have a set of RX7 460cc injectors for sale.

Noone on the FB page wanted them so I put them for sale here $1 reserve. They might be part of your ticket to reach your power goals

Thanks Damo!!
I will ask them the question about outright power to the wheels considering the afm 's capabilities.
I was almost certain that the stock cam could accommodate this kind of power
But I have always been interested in the idle of a stage 3 cam, because of the fact that I have never heard an ET with one and assume that it sound s good! :-)
I have looked into buying a Walbro in tank fuel pump for my car.
Will I need to buy an aftermarket fuel regulator (ie malpassi)??
I am getting my car's bodywork and paint done in the next couple of weeks so I will definitely keep you guys posted with all the details.

Cheer Anthony 😁

It will come down to what YOU want to achieve and what YOUR limitations are. Proper engine builders are able to get silly amounts of power out of nearly anything because they set a power goal and build the engine to that requirement. This goes for drag car too, as they know what trap speed they want for a combo, know how much it weighs, then intrinsically know how much power they need to make it run at that speed.

So, how fast do you want to go?

I came up with some figures for the AFM waaaaaaayyyyyy back in the day but I think they were completely inaccurate. Having a look at the Niztune mapping of the chip will immediately show what the AFM is capable of giving reliable data upto.

Work on the premiss that the engineers at Nissan knew what they were doing, and the AFM runs out of scope where the injectors run out, which is 1.1ltr per min.

Wild cams are a bit of a wank on street cars, almost like dyno sheet drag racing. I would prefer 20kw less at top end for 30% more power off boost for driving everyday!

You can do the walbro thing, (and the tuner may suggest or demand it) but a inline pump in the bay to boost flow @ pressure is all you need.

A fuel reg is a fuel reg. If the stocker holds 36.5psi, don't change it.

Understood Damo.
How fast do I want to go? I would love to run a 12 second pass.
I have a copper head gasket, is there any point putting it on my motor?
How much boost can I run without o-ringing the motor?

Cheers Anthony

I was running 119kw and this is what I ran with
T28bb @13psi
Microtech LT8s
FJ20 injectors
Stage 2 cam
3" exhaust
Standard fuel pump and the rest of the engine

Dont know what it runs down the quarter as I never had it on the track

If your goal is to run a 12 second pass, you are going to need to trap at 105 to 115mph depending on what tyres you use. 100mph has been done with around 130-140kw. Get everything sorted and that should net a low 13 with a banzai launch on slicks. Push that to 160-170kw will have you well into the 12's (still with slicks) @ 105-110mph. If you are a little soft on you combo (like me) you are going to need more power to crack a 12.

Don't go the copper gasket, nothing but trouble.

If the engine doesn't detonate, and the head and block are true, there is no need for 'O' rings.

Have a look through the Top Ten list for more ideas of what guys have done to run their times. Every car combo is different and unique.

Thanks for your help
Guys!
I have a brand new T28 off a s15 so ill see how much I can squeeze out of it on the dyno.
I'd be really happy to get 160kw's out of it but I'll see how I go.
What was your car like to drive on the street Dexi_Styles?

Thanks for the input guys.
I finally found the injectors I want.
380cc Bosch injectors that connect straight to the standard loom and only need some fuel hose to fit them up.
Should be plenty enough fuel for the T28.
Should be able to get 150-160kws out of them.
I bought 4 of them for $280 delivered from Canada.
They are a flow-matched set and apparently they're developed specifically for the ET Engine.
Can't wait to receive them in the mail! EXCITED! 😁

Im willing to bet they are a Bosch 036 or equivalent. Thats an extremely good price if they are BRAND NEW.
Let us know what they are when you get them.

Im using 036's now and they deliver plenty enough fuel for my (estimated) 140kw.

Im pretty fussy tho, well........ EXTREMELY fussy actually.... come to think of it.. OCD, tuning wise and im downsizing to 375 CA18det injectors as Im simply chasing better extreme low end fuelling.
The 036's do everything I want except at extreme short opening times but im pretty OCD when it comes to driveability at light loads!!!!

Well..... This is there claim.......

Looking for a larger injector for your early Nissan E15ET Turbo engine? Up for auction is a set of 4 - BOSCH 380cc, low impedance, fuel injectors to fit the Nissan engines listed below. These are a DIRECT FIT for your factory harness, and compatible with your factory ECU (LOW Z), all you need is fuel hose and hose clamps.

These 380's are an EXCLUSIVE to Performance Fuel Injection. We developed this set for those looking to up the boost on their early 4cyl Nissan E15ET engines but do not want to step-up to a larger injector and sacrifice idle and part throttle driveability. All 4 of these injectors flow within 1.5% +/- of 380cc making this a FLOW MATCHED set. At a fuel pressure of 43.5psi(3bar) this set will support engines making up to 240bhp.

Whatdoyathink Tassuperkart & Damo??

😆👍👍

APPLICATIONS:
- Nissan E15ET engine - N12 Pulsar, Sunny, Cherry, Etc.

AND THEN.......

All injectors have undergone the following process on one of our ASNU diagnostic machines:

- Resistance and continuity checked
- Visually inspected to insure a quality platform
- Hand cleaned
- Ultrasonically cleaned and reversed flow cleaned (3 different 10min cycles)
- Flow tested with spray pattern observed for consistency
- Drive simulation from 600-10000 RPM with spray pattern observed
- High pressure leak down tested
- Machine polishing
- New filters, and pintle caps installed
- Re-inspected

How do you like that for your OCD hahaha!!!
