tapping a thread in valve cover

Post by 2fast2stop »

I want to tap some threads in the breather and pcv in my valve cover.
I'm concerned the metal cuttings are going to get stuck in the valve cover (gauze) - well at least till its bolted back up.... Then I sure they will come loose just to make my day.

Please guide me how to do this without causing havoc?

Cheers

Clamp the cover upside down and tap from underneath.
Blow out from inside with compressed air.
Voilah!

Thanks mate. Always good to ask someone with experience.
Another question please ???? When I took off the valve cover I noticed one of the areas that suppose to have gauze did not.
Is that a big issue?
Will it cause more oil in the inlet Mani?
Should I try to source another valve cover?

Only one had gauze on my E15S cover (not particularly helpful I guess)
