Alignment

Post by Sohcturbs »

Hi all,

Another of the tasks that I've never quite got to is to sort out the alignment on the ET. I had it checked when I last got new tires on it, the drivers side rear at the front was pointing about 5 degrees out.

Is there a way to correct it? As far as I'm aware the car hasn't had a shove in this area.

Be nice to tick this off my list.

Cheers,

Dan

5Deg is a fair whack.
Itll be a couple of things.
The trailing arms are not very tough and are prone to bending where the stub sticks out after some decent bottoming or a thump on a gutter.
Also the mounting bushes can slog out allowing things to move around.

First is to ensure that the bushes are not worn.

If the bushes are ok then the stub will be bent from a previous hit of some kind.
You can have them bent out which is going to be a fairly hit and miss affair. it needs to be done on the car with a strut bender and alignment done as its done.......pricey, or just replace the arm.

Atmo arms are the same. new bushes and your away.

In the process of correcting that, if you want to build adjustable ones, check out the articles section. OR if someone doesn't buy my set up and I part it out you might be able to buy these in a few weeks.....

Thanks guys,

The outer bush was knackerred on that side. So I've got a nolathane set.
Questions:
Is the lip on the arm part of the arm or the old bush? Looks to be the bush but the nolathane doesn't have the lip...

Don't suppose there is an easy way to get the bushes out?

Don't worry the lip is part of the outer casing of the bush.. cut it out..
