RB airflow meter used on e15et. can it be done? if so how!

Post by exaUTE »

I have heaps of rb engine parts laying around, including a throttle body so there is one upgrade i know i can do to my et, but i was thinking would it be possible to use an rb20det airflow meter instead of the factory flap type (very restrictive). i would want to retain the factory ecu and not upgrade to a link etc at this point. anybody got any ideas or experiece?

It won't work mate. The output from both is different, plus i would expect the signal from a hot wire to linear compared to the vane not being as linear. Then you would have the problem that the RB hot wire would have to give the same voltage v's airflow compared to the E15 vane which is not going to happen. You could mess around with getting a bigger vane meter on it, but you would have to scale up your injectors to compensate for the smaller signal from the AFM.
How restrictive do yo think the vane AFM is?
You can make a reliable 120kw without stuffing with the AFM or ECU.
How fast do you want to go?
