ET to EXA brake conversion

Post by amraks »

Hey guys its time to get the ET out of the road because I have bought a Sabot yatch to fix up. So I need the room to paint it. So I have started removing bits I require from my spare car.

So what do I need out of the ET?

Is it straight Forward Swap or is there any modifications, I need to do to the controller arm?

go to the articles section and read Ben Hewitson's article - has all the details. There is also several other brake articles with info and last time I searched the web there was one on someones web site that did it different o Ben, but had lots of details.

is it necessary to grind the seam then re-weld?

Or seems I have mags on that don't scrub this won't be necessary?

Yeah, if the mags fit it's not needed. I did mine while it was out so I didn't have to do it later.

So I can use my exa's swing arms?

Parts I need from my ET to do conversion need disc brake backing plate, calipers, hand-brake cables, hydraulic hoses am I correct?

Parts I won't need off the ET are no swing arms or ET swaybar.

That info Ben has giving is confusing, but in another way helpful because of photos.

the et brake hoses are to short so use your exa ones and while your at it swap the swing arms out the et ones have swing arm brackets where the exa don't
the exa handles heaps better with the sway bar than without
6 bolt, bleed your brake and off you go again

EXA hoses are to short.

ET ones are longer.

Yeah I will be taking that swing arm I know how much difference that makes from my last conversion on a Subaru.

Hey I have finished my conversion.

What difference is there with brake lines to master brake cylinder.
(the metal lines that run next to fuel lines.)

EXA Vs. ET

Just wanting to know.
I know the MPa is different between disc's and drums.

can I hook up a ET master cylinder with out having to install these metal lines?

Nevermind I understand now.

The EXA and ET lines are way different.

So where do the 2 rear lines meet on the exa.

So instead of farting around installing the ET lines, would it be possible to remove them 2 lines and extend them to where my ET master cylinder will be.

I know I will need a double adaptor joiner and a bubble flare kit.

The reason I am asking is because I ended up cutting out one side of the ets lines after failed multigrip(shittest and cheapest multigrips ever old man lent me his after that) attempts cause the 10 mm open ender kept failing.
