New Wheels

Post by 2fast2stop »

I need to pick all your intelligent brains. I currently have bluebird trx 15" rims on my car and I am considering some other rims with the below dimms

16" x 7" - Front +34 offset
16" x 8" - Rear +38 offset

Is there any chance they will fit?????? Maybe with slight mods?

Cheers Guys

Id be guessing fitting 8 would be quite a challenge on the rears in any diameter no?

Rears might work with a fender roll but the front are way of, even with the suv height the rears rub the arches from time to time.

They are not suppose to be on this car but on an other N12 I got that will be getting fender flares and other "nice" mods ;)

trying to fit whells that wide is almost an exercise in futility.

Pumping the front guards is fairly easy.
The rears are a little harder as you have to account for the inner guard as well when the suspension is on full bump.
Going to be a lot of work to make them fit. Who'd bother!!!

Good luck

Rear guards are like a twin layer from memory, Seeing as the rear will rub on the control arms, you could do the old "cut & weld" job on the seem & run some spacers (nothing crazy) & longers studs if needed, but then you run into the opposite side (the fkn guard) ..Even with a roll it will still fit like crap, so you could (depending on if your a "i dont give a fuck type of bloke") ..Chop your guards & run a bolt on flare to give you that extra room or just run it "mexican as fuck" & have the wheel poking miles out of the guard..But remember, cornering will rub the tyres, Oh & stretch your tyres a little to help

My lame thought...
but why the heck do you need 8" wheels on the back of a front wheel drive
Anyway... As the guys said... pretty hard.

But on the other hand. would look like a monster if you pump out the guards.
Welding some big ones on can add about 80-120mm
Like I did on my front.
but then again if its a 4 door then it would be a ridiculous amount of work
.

Its the "LOOK" dude!!!! Wheels and tyres that size on a sub tonne weight car are overkill in every way apart from the "look".
I do get that tho as some cars are almost "made" alone by the wheel and tyre fitment.
Check out some of the drag racer dudes with huge front slicks and stock cheese cutters on the rear and the "look" (or lack of it) becomes very apparent!!!!
basically, big wheels and tyres on the front looks stoopid whereas big on the back seems to work aesthetically!

Its just, as mentioned above, that its a huge job to effectively pump the rear guards sufficiently to allow big rims and still maintain any useful wheel travel/rideheight.
