intake gasket query

Post by EA-73-XA »

hey all, upon noticing a large leak in my intake manifold gasket (the one between the runners and the section that the TB bolts to)

by using water, dishwashing liquid and my air compressor.... ;)

im more than capable of making one, but the one leaking is one that I made with some gasket paper and stag...
but does anyone know if theyre still available? I just dont want this problem again because its quite the fuck around...

thanks

But you have to get a role....
If you want enough for a few gaskets, I have plenty left over.
just pm me to work out how to get it to you...

Yer you can still buy them but they usually come in the kits. Thats is the thing.
You could try Nissan.........mebbe.

If you make one using the tried and proven ball-pein hammer technique AND use fairly THIN material, youll have as good as new.

Takes me less than 5 minutes to tap out one.

Start with one of the end bolt holes. I drive in a tapered center punch into a bolt hole. Pull the paper tight and use another ceterpunch to secure the material at other end.
If you must use bolts, then put nuts onto the bolts and tighten gently to prevent the material from moving around.
Once secured, just tap thoroughly around all the edges with a small ballpein hammer until your gasket is done.

I simply use Silastic as a sealant and have never had dramas with this old-fashioned but tried and true method of making gaskets.
