Thermostat temp ratings

Post by TurboZ.Dude »

Hey again guys.

I recently stumbled upon a 92-degree (centigrade) thermostat for the E series engine, I'm currently running an 88 degree unit. Are there any benefits of running a higher temperature thermostat such as that one? I've never seen such a high temperature rating before, I wonder why they sell these.

Nissan gives 3 types of operating temperature thermostats according your country's climate.76.5C for warm climates 82C for mild climates and 88C for cold climates.generally speaking a warmer operating engine until a point will provide more fuel economy but a colder one again until a point more performance.in here where i live we don't have hard winter or summer conditions so i run my N13 with a 82C thermostat all the time and i am more than happy with how engine works.i suggest to stick at what nissan recommends and choose the operating temperature according to your country's climate.can we have a link where did you find that type of thermostat? cheers.

It's in Finnish, but they don't have a translated version. I'm sorry about that!

here's the full spare parts listing for the N12:

and the thermostat itself:

Nothing much to see there, I'm afraid.

The other one they have is 88 degrees. The 92 degree one is twice as expensive as the 88 degree one, what's the point of even selling these if they are outside the standard specs for the E series engine?

Well mate as far as i know at Finland you have hard winter time so maybe E (not tassuperkart lol) will run good even with that type of thermostat BUT if you are happy with the 88C one then stick with it.
