sloppy gearstick

sloppy gearstick

hey all, just wondering, the gearstick in my et is sloppy but it still selects all the gears, just wondering if anyone knew if it could be anything other then bushes, and how would i go about replacing them ?

Hey mate, I know with my ET the selector use to feel sloppy, until I swapped to N13 internals. I think the sloppyness comes from the movement of the sissor fingers in the box itself. The N12 has a welded pin which they pivot on, and AFAIK there is nothing that has been documented to do to fix it. I actually only noticed how bad it was when I did the swap.

Also, a lot of slop comes from the little uni joint/linkage just at the back of the gearbox.
Its very basic and does not have replaceable bushes which is a pita.

Check the spring under the gear selector & see if its still there!..It centeres the stick in position
