I am sure that you will get plenty of good advice from everybody.

But my 2 cents

How long is a piece of string?

You sort of asked the wrong question.

What are you planning to do with it, track, drag or road?
How much money do you want to throw at it?

It's said that 200kW is about the most usable power out of a FWD.

Of cause you can get more if you really want, but what will you do with it.
The cars are light and nimble, and I personally think anything around 100kW -150kW is plenty to have lots of fun.
Remember the more power... the more mods..., and not just motor, fuel system, suspension and braking.

OK that might be 4 cents

You should prolly shoot for like 150kW... more than that and diminishing returns will bite hard.

You may wanna blueprint the donk, which won't be cheap... neither will a properly-sorted aftermarket EFI system. Don't waste money fucking around with exhaust manifolds (if you have $$ to burn ceramic coat the stock one), just throw on a bigger turbs and FMIC and 3" dump pipe, 2.5"exhaust. Not sure if you need to mess with the cam for 150kW... the bottom end is strong enough for heaps, don't blow money on forged pistons and shit. Match port the head/manifolds, I guess. You'll want more fuel pressure and bigger injectors too, I spose. Prolly wanna stop short of needing to O-ring the head gasket, given the hassles I've seen some folks cop from it, IIRC. Proper boost control is a good thing, also.

Might have a hard time making the suspension sweet; there used to be aftermarket struts available but no more. Some folks have adapted other stuff though, I think. If you have an Exa you'll prolly wanna get ET trailing arms for the sway bar mounts and disc brakes... but then you need another brake line, and I think the master cylinder and proportioning valve are different too. In the Articles section there's a thread showing how to fit Magna discs to the front, which looks fairly straightforward, and they're heaps bigger - you need 15" wheels for em.

150Kw is a pretty tough street engine.
Ask anybody here who has made that figure. Its not as easy as it sounds.

Nothing pulled out of 'yo ass' there Kimmo.

If I were given a stocker, and the directions to make it as quick and streetable as possible for cheap. I would size everything to make maximum mumbo at the 140kw mark.
Ebay i/c
Ebay 3inch muffler (make your own dump and exhaust).
Ebay CA T25
Ebay adjustable base FPR
A set of Holden 186 valve springs
Iridium or platinum plugs
20psi
And you WILL need a decent clutch
The best pump fuel you can get.

Use the rest of the stock bolt on's.

if i could do it all again:

T25 from a CA18det (.48 to .49 for exhaust housing)
2.5" exhaust with a 3" dump ppe
relocate the airflow meter
small front mount intercooler
solid engine mount

keep stock:

camshaft
ECU
throttle body

setup would be sweet for the street, very usable power!

ET i got now has a monster of a top end which i cant get on the power without losing my licence. unboostable in the wet. i want my stock ET back lol

Yeah, prolly wanna be able to turn down the boost in the wet... I remember mine was fucking mental before I had that crap exhaust made cause my stock manifold kept warping... couldn't get to 80 without lighting em up.
