well these ones are so hard that when i push down on front guard it moves about 5mm, or something like stuff all.

I will send KING springs an email with the measurements and see what they come up with.

Do you mind if I correspond with you after talking to them for your opinon?

4.5-5kg/mm should be plenty for street fun car. other wise somthing like lower 4kg should be enough.

well done E you always have the knack for turning 1 line into a story book lol

Like I said in the other post, you can calculate it and it wont cost anything...the math is a little complicated but not too much. I have an excel sheet I did up that does it.... but a google search on 'calculate coil spring rate' will probably find something. You basically need the wire diameter (measure with verniers), the number of coils (count with your finger!), coil diameter (verniers again), some material properties (I can give you what you need here).

or

you can measure the deflection on a set of bathroom scales . This post shows it being done for a much smaller spring, but the idea is the same.

ok went to this site

http://www.pontiacracing.net/js_coil_spring_rate.htm

and put in

10 coils
12/13mm wire dia
90mm outside dia
200mm free length
180mm compressed (bit of a guess but it not make to much differance to end results).

and stuff me I must be doing something wrong as it came out at 240 pounds or 108kg.

Maybe thats why when i sit on front end it move stuff all.

yeah i dunno how you got that, but the numbers you have above show it is 6kg/mm which were the same as what i was selling my coilovers with. They were pretty stiff.

again from experience, and confirming your current spring rate.

also keep in mind that the standard front coil springs have a rate of 2.0kg/mm so yours are 3 times as stiff

what type of spring are you running in the back? if its a pedders or king it wont be a hell of a lot more than standard. they were around 3-3.5 from memory. Standards are 2.35kg/mm

Well I found some springs the same length and width with 125lb. What's that in kg?

would it realy be safe drilling through the struts allowing coilovers to fit? and just say i bought s13/180sx aftermarket suspension and drilled the holes to make them fit would the bottom part line up for the bolts to go through?

when someone quotes a spring in pounds, it isn't. Its either pound per inch or pounds per foot or ...

So for you its most likely pounds per inch, quick search gives:
To convert kg/mm to lbs/in, divide by .0179.
To convert lbs/in to kg/mm, multiply by .0179.
