Would also like to hear more about the 180SX Coilovers in the Jaffa samual.

I've been meaning to hit the wreckers with some measuring equipment to see if I could find any other car that will bolt up with minimum mods, but I CBF, and Uni has been hectic.

ok here are the pics.

Yes you need to drill two new holes on both sides. They are from pedders as previous owner had a mate that worked there and he put them into the bottom half from std ET.

Hope it helps. Any questions just ask. I am trying to find new springs which are softer, I just measured the size of them. So the search begins.

so really the only part that is 180sx is the top hat. other wise its a pedders DIY weld on collar kit with a smaller spring.

They are a stock Kings and (dozens of other spring manufacturers) racing series type of spring. They are from memory 65mm ID and a fixed length. Available at Repco on special order and quite inexpensive.

Those struts look like they are just stock Pedders replacements and have been modified with some threaded tube welded on and a pair of "C" nuts which is available from any speed shop to convert your stock coilovers to ..well.. errr ......coilovers! The onlt difference from "coilovers" to stock are adjustable ride height and you can modify stock struts spring perches in the same way to get to adjustable height AND keep your stock springs easily.
What I dont really like about them is non adjustable ride height WITHOUT adjusting the spring deck.
What using this kind of spring allows is insanely wide wheels without hitting the springs. otherwise it achieves nothinbg as springs are springs regardless of their outside diameter.

Its a common thing to do and cheap and easy. I made a set of coilovers out of some Koni shocks for my race car many years ago and another M8 of mine has just done it to a set of KYB GR-2 gas struts for his S13 toy car.

As for springs, just call Kings and ask them what the spring rates are for their... say "LOWS" and then just ask them to supply some race series 65mm ID springs in that weight range.

No brainer.

Tass.

You are a brain with legs. Legend.

I will take my time and read what you said 10 times before ordering.

So any suggestions on KG rate?

Ummm.. I dont really know M8.
Unless the dampening rates are stupidly hard justifying heavy springs then your best to stay with closer to stock for good roadholding and a reasonable ride.
