reduce turbo lag?

Post by go-exa »

Hi, people just wondering how to reduce lag and make the turbo come on sooner? I've got the t2 turbo and it goes well when it comes on put i want it to come sooner or am i just dreaming.? Here's what it's doing put ur foot down u can hear it winding up and a a moment it comes on it's takes too much time to come on, we're not talking about ages or anything like that. I 'd like it to come on as soon as foot is down to the floor. How can i make this happen? It's just a little bit laggy apart from that it's works relly well. Cheers guys :D :D :D :D

If you t2 is to laggy i'd say get a new turbo... The T2 should make positive pressure from 1100 rpm or so!

You need a combo or boost and revs to make power. Having 7psi and 2500rpm isnt gonna do much, but when you get to around 5000rpm itll feel better. If thats what you are talking about it isnt lag.

If your T2 is laggy, you have a problem.

To reduce lag, you could do a few things, none of em cheap...

Get an even smaller turbo

Get a BB turbo

Get a variable-vane turbo (I guess)

Get a less restrictive exhaust (I think, prolly won't do a lot)

Bump up your static compression

Increase your capacity (max 1.68 IIRC)

...Hey, have you done the AFM relocation?

Single best thing you could possibly do for throttle response.

T2 and Lag in the same sentence? WTF?????? if your after straight up boost then hook up some throttle in a bottle! that will fix all your problems! and your engine might even love it so much it will show you what it's conrods look like!

First things first, what revs are you getting full boost!? Anything below that aount of revs is going to feel lacking. If the engine is running properly, and you are still not happy, sell the Pulsar and buy a boat anchor!

cheapest alternative to feel less lag, is to advance your timing.
so anything out of your boost range will have more kick.
trade off would be less top end power and a higher chance of pinging.

be sure to use a timing gun! and never over advance.

Not really M8.
Gains to be had off boost, which are minimal at very best are offset by some possible kick onboost.

Turbo lag is part of the fun of a turbo engine. Its how much lag you have is the variable.

You want to remove lag, NOS it off boost or fit a supercharger.
NO other way (wellapart from going back to atmo) will remove it.
Get used to it.

It comes on around 3 grand and that full boost. I'd like better throttle response so, i think the afm recloation is in order. Thanks for ur info and kiss my arse, to all u rude people!

Definitely.

This is the must-do mod. You just can't judge the car until you've fixed this glaring flaw... I was pretty bloody stoked with mine when I did it.

You'll be able to lift off in second without having to use the clutch : )
