Reducing flutter.

Post by TimmyET »

Hey all.
This isn't exactly ET related but I'm hoping it will be a general application. Im selling my ET soon so I went and checked out a marvelous Toyota MR2 GT. Took it for a test drive. But it has alot of flutter in the lower revs as some turbo cars do. It has a blow off valve I'm sure but I dont like flutter in such a fancy car, it makes it sound like a gay VL commodore, is there any way i can reduce it?

just set the BOV softer if its an aftermarket one, if not make sure the vac line hasn't got a break in it or come off :)

Yeah I was thinking of that whole adjustable blow off valve deal. What happens if its set too soft? Are there any re-percussion's?

Yeah I'm thinking it was plumb back as the seller didn't mention it on the small list of things the mechanic gave him for it to pass roadworthy

I'd rather have a blow off valve and keep the top of the MR2 range CT20B turbo in good condition than have it sound like a VL commonwhore

I guess this depends on your personal preference, for me with a street car turbo longevity and throttle response are pretty important.
Hence the reason I say plumb back.

Try this.

Cheap, and you can adjust the sensitivity to how fast the throttle shuts and how long the solenoid stays open.

You just need to buy the right type... : /

Is that so??

Then why would factories spend millions of dollars developing plumb back systems. If they were so shit they would not fit them at all.

So, ur technical perspective/rationale on this "shit/crap" claim?
