Hi,
Has anyone been able to source parts outlet for our Hitachi alternators?
I need a new rectifier plate.
Cheers,
Mike

I've previously got bits for starter motors from:
http://www.ingram.com.au/
they do all the auto elec bits and may be able to help with the hitachi alternators.

Thanks Callum,
Got a new rectifier plate today for $65 from Ingram this morning.
Fitted it this afternoon and got it running again.
Much cheaper than a Bosch replacement at over $300.
Must be a problem with th Hitachi alternators. This is the second one that has blown the diodes on each of my Exas.
Cheers,
Mike

You should be getting about 14.2 volts at the battery with the car at 1500rpm.
If you turn the headlights on it should not drop more than .5volts.
Dash light should be off and not even glowing slightly.
If any of these things aren't right, you will have to strip it down and check the internals.
The diodes should be checked with a digital multimeter.
They should read a resistance in one direction only.
If any of them read the same in both directions they are u/s.
