FPR questions
iv inherited a FPR (autotecnica)
done a search, no avail,
how do i set it up on an ET with stock management?
splice main fuel line? add vac n set pressure? with stock one? what bout the 2 additional lines?
do away
pics? and diagrams would be appreciated

There is no reason to ditch the one you have unless it is faulty. Pressure regs have a simple duty, that is to keep fuel pressure at a set value above manifold pressure. No matter how flash it looks, how much it flows, how much it costs, it won't do a better job than the one on your engine, unless its faulty.

what he said. we played with these a bit before, do a search, results were that aftermarket ones do the same job as bog stock one. but they have more bling and normally a guage, which is basically bling after you set the correct pressure the first time.Damo wrote:There is no reason to ditch the one you have unless it is faulty. So aftermarket FPR = Bling

ok, now that we have established what a FPR does.....
and we already knew that......
does anyone want to answer the questions that i DID ask?
and as the first post says, Iv already done a search and turned up nothing..
i know what they do and if the owner of the car wants bling, then so be it,
anyone?

Is it rising rate or linear rate? This matters.
If its rising rate then it may not be a lot of use on a stock engine/management. Will most likely result in overfuelling on boost and under fuelling on vac.
This is because not only does the rate rise by its stated ratio, say 2:1 (Ie: 2 psi boost = 4 psi extra fuel pressure) but it will cut fuel pressure by the same amount under vac.
Plumb it in in exactly the same manner as the stock item which is on the RETURN side of the injector rail
Ok, set it with the engine off at whatever the advertised base fuel pressure is (I think 38psi)
Pix of the regulator would be helpful to determine what these other 2 "lines" are.

im talking about the 2 lines into the standard regulator,
the main line from the pump, goes into the rail, the return comes out and back to the tank, but theres 2 more lines carrying fuel into the stock reg,
do i plumb these into the aftermarket reg?
and callumg - iv got the same regulator as you.
linear rate yeah?

OK
The fuel system works like this;
Fuel under p ressure from the pump goee thru a filter.
The rail has 2 connections.
This hose from the filter connects to the front of the fuel injector rail.
The other end of the rail goes to the INLET of the FPR
The OUTLET of the regulator returns to the tank.
OK, so theres 3 hoses coming from the reg.
The small one on top is the inlet manifold vac/boost line. This must go in AFTER the Throttle body.
The hose on the side of the FPR is the INLET (from the injector rail).
The hose on the bottom of the reg. is the return back to the tank.
Thats all you need to know M8.
Now, go pipe it all up, run the pump and set the pressure with MOTOR NOT RUNNING to 38psi.
Then your set.

Standard reg only has a fuel line in and a fuel line out, plus a vacuum line, same as the aftermarket one.EA-73-XA wrote:im talking about the 2 lines into the standard regulator,

Yep linear. Just a blinged up ordinary reg. Actually I reckon they do this because you can adjust the level to suit different cars, they only need to make one and it fits all, then they make BILLIONS and it gets cheap.
