has anybody found a way to get rid of stock distributor yet?

Post by MattoRX7 »

hey guys im here again to see if anybody has managed to get rid of the dizzy on a stock E15et. i have a datto 1000 ute with a e15et running rear wheel drive and the dizzy is the only disapointment as i had to cut a small round hole in my firewall to fit the motor in (dizzy goes through firewall).

can anybody help. this is the only problem with this conversion.

Aftermarket computer with coilpack set-up? as far as i know thats the only way unless theirs a way to set up coilpack's with the stock ecu which i doubt. So basically u just mount the 4 of them somewhere on the side of ur engine bay and each one runs to a seperate cylinder, in a specific order ofcourse, lol. Iv seen this with microtech's but thats about it.

even with the aftermarket computer you will need the distributor because it contains the CAS....

E mentioned something about a hall effect sensor????

or something?

^^ What dillion said.

Or modify your CAM wheel at the front of the engine to have 4 slots and a 5th reference slot. Measure the slots with Hall Effect sensor available of a heap of different vehicles.

I currently utilise the 4+1 slot method in my distributor at the moment - running sequential injection and spark. This system would just need to be replicated onto the front of your CAM belt wheel.

Alternatively you can run separate CAM and crank sensors if you want extremely accurate timing of your engine. This would involve modifying the CAM belt wheel (anyway) and setting up some sort of toothed wheel on the cranshaft.

However all of these options require the use of an aftermarket computer - of a megasquirt or similar.

Its a shame you have had to drill a hole in your firewall.

Darren.

multicoils... you still need the dizzy for the CAS, but you dont need the cap or the rotor button!

^^ Exactly.

How much room do you need to get the engine/distributor to clear without the cap or rotor button?

I think I seen a real nice machined cap to go over the end a while ago -- MRD did one I think if memory serves me correct.

I'm installing turbo to E15 engine and I'm running it with MegaSquirt. Also thought using EDIS with it.

So I have carburettor distributor in my engine now and it doesn't have CAS.

The carb electronic dissie will NOT run sequential EFI nor EDIS.
You can only run batch firing and must use a distributer.
In which case its a woftam.

Just use a simple 60-2 timing wheel available from any aftermarket EFI supplier, attach it to your front pulley, position a single Hall Effect sensor on a sturdy bracket and full sequention fuel and ignition will be yours using a MS or ANY other aftermarket ECU for that matter.

Look it up on the net.
