Mine didn't. Mines 85. Isn't there a law or something about cars being pre '86 not needing cats, correct me if I'm wrong

Wrong section mate.

And yes, the 86 & 87 ET's did because they ran unleaded fuel.

All of the E15ET engines can run unleaded as they were imported from Japan where they ONLY have unleaded.
Based on the date on your car's Compliance Plate you don't need one .... but if you get caught running unleaded without one they'll be up ya.

Is cool mate.

From what I have read about people going thru Regency Park on here:
1. Make sure the car is A1. The better it looks, the better impression you'll make.
2. Be very polite, well dressed and have all you paper work ready. First impressions again.
3. Don't offer any info about the car. Let them ask everything then answer.

Good luck dude.

Didn't Nissan Australia design an build the ET for Australian conditions?

Well, sort of.
The car was ALTERED/MODIFIED to suite the Australian market.
However it used engines made in Japan.

ALL engines made in Japan from about 1977 onwards are suitable for unleaded fuels.
