You can either wire it up to a tacho/shift light or a datalogger.
ACL Pistons, 226/236 cam, T28 Turbo, FMIC, FJ20T Injectors, Wolf V4 ECU, NPC Clutch, VL TB, Custom High Mount Manifold, N13 Internals G/B, 3" SS Exhaust, Walbro 500hp Pump.

Ahh..... what about an optional tacho? Seems obvious to me.
Or its the coil trigger if you are still using a single coil and dizzie!

yo E, your right.

it is the coil trigger, got my car running but it's far too rich! (smell of petrol in the air)

i've got the display controller (not handset) unit but i dont know how to use it :(

and the fuel pump seems to be on all the time after i switch the ignition to first click. is this normal? (usually stops after a few seconds...)

does anyone know how to use the display controller?

at this point, is the car ok to drive on the base map?

thanks again fellas

Sounds pretty normal to me, but I don't have an aftermarket ECU... can't imagine why it should be any different, though

damn, mine keeps going.
is that a bad thing?
when i switch the car completely off, then the fuel pump will stop.

i got my car running sweety (for a car less the air temp and oxygen sensor)

problem is, my car has a fucked up smell about the exhaust. heavy fumes.

i know it's running more lean as my exhaust doesnt pop/back fire no more.

very smooth at idle and drive (no bog downs)

would getting the air temp and oxygen sensor get rid of the exhaust fumes/smell? (smells like egg, but worse)

cheers

I remember when I first put mine in, I noticed the same thing with the fuel pump only with mine it would stay on longer after the first click of the key (you know, when you turn the key but not actually start te car!).

I believe there is a setting in the microtech on the amount of time it should prime for. Look around the handset for settings related to the fuel pump and tell us what they read. Also, download the mircotech manual and read up on what this setting does. BTW, dont be shy or afraid of using the hand controller or display, you've gone this far with the car (after market computer), you may as well make the most of it!

As for the egg smelling exhaust, hmmmmm I dunno.....and no, getting and air temp & oxygen sensor wont fix this!

Cheers

A nasty egg smell indicates sulphuric acid is getting together with iron somehow...

No good. Something wrong. The pump should stop after about 10 seconds or so.

Too rich.
kid nismo wrote:i know it's running more lean as my exhaust doesnt pop/back fire no more.
Nope, its running richer. Leanness will cause popping and backfiring
kid nismo wrote:very smooth at idle and drive (no bog downs)
Yay!

Nope, wont make any difference as mentioned before. O2 sensor has NO effect on a Microtech apart from giving a dodgey AFR reading on the handpiece.
