OFF 180???

Post by EXAQTD »

HeY gUyZ...

I jst have a query i hope someone could help me with...

MY question is if the cam pulley, is set to the TRIANGLE, and NOT the CIRCLE MARK, is my CAM OUT 180???

Because when i SET it to the CIRCLE MARK, My distributor seems to be on lead 4 instead of 1..

IF it ISS 180 OUT then Any suggestions on how to fix it?? ..
Would i jst take off the rocker shaft, and rotate the cam 180 and put rocker shaft back??

N e feedback is appreciated...

EXAQTD, the cam turns at half crank speed so you will have TDC shown in two locations on the cam pully. One at the triangle and one at the circle. There is no way you can be out 180 unless neither of these marks show up at TDC.

maybe try getting it to tdc on #1 and see where the cam lobes are pointing if they are pointing away from the rocker arms (not trying to open the valves) take the dizzy cap off and make sure its pointing at no1 spark plug lead

#1's the piston that'd be at the front of the motor if it was mounted lengthwise.

on all cars?

a renault espace is FWD people carrier and has longitudinally mounted engine (north-south engine), and has #1 at flywheel side (flywheel @ back of engine), also the distributor is at the back, guess is it fun to replace leads/cap/rotator, the word (e)space isn't a wery good description of the engine bay.. (ok, there is space in there, but all the wrong places)
Go and sit on the drivers seat, now, to your left is the left side of the car, and to your right(the arm you proly use for writing )is the right side of the car. (doesn't matter RHD/LHD).

#1 is at the left side of the car.

Dead set?

That's fucked.

Plenty of room in this Espace's engine bay...
