Dash temp guage on the blink

Post by Gary vcET »

Hi Fellas,
My dash temp guage has just decided to stop working.
The little probe on the bottom side of the radiator on the drivers side ,is this where the temperature is taken?

This probe was replaced new from Nissan about 2 years ago, or is there something else thats under the bonnet that should be checked out to fix this guage.

Thanks fellas.

the "probe" on the bottom side of the radiator is the fan switch.
the temperature sender for the gauge is on the thermostat housing below the distributor, the one with one wire (yellow?)

replace the gauge (F.E from wreckers) and if that dont help, get a new sender

Ummm well perhaps a little less drastic but to tell if the guage or the sender is dodgey, switch on the ignition and disconnect the sender wire and earth it.
The guage should go up.
if it does then the sender is buggered.
if it does not then you have a wiring drama or the guage is faulty.

This might save a bit of work!!
