upgrade camshaft
Is there any point in upgrading the camshaft in these engine, are they restrictive in any way, and what power can you get from the standard camshaft if left in. Also is there any point putting a vernier pully on the standard camshaft if used.

A cam upgrade is a good mod, but as with any engine it will depend on other mods to make it's full potential.

as renegade said it depends very much on other mods, sometimes changing the cam grind can result in other nessessary mods to balance. you dont gain a hell of a lot of hp from a cam grind rather you are using the cam to give the engine better response at certain rpms. cam grind is just change the duration of the intake and exhaust ports as they open and close. ie: open longer for more fuel and air and to release burnt gases. with the grind the duration will vary at different rpms, usually described as low, mid and high or top end range power.
so upgrading the cam is up to you just keep in mind that you may require other mods to gain full potential from a cam grind to make getting one a worthwhile exersize. mods like a port and polish, exhaust system and double valve springs are some of the less expensive mods you can do to help gain a much more noticable improvment.
cheers dude..
