starting probs

hey guys have u guys had any probs after installing heavy duty valve springs when kick in it over sounds like my starter is strugling turn it over even with a fresh battery and my wire on the starter starts to cook is it bad earth or the starter is no good or what any help will be appriciated i still havent got her to kick over just to hear it run its killing me as most of u can imagine what i m felling like now (BURNING IT) ye
