Maximum Tyre Size?

Post by raddavey »

I'm looking into drag radials and would like to know what maximum tyre size someone has fitted with minimal rubbing on the front of their ET. Also what offset 15inch rim would be the best to use?

Would a 225 wide tyre rub or should i got 205? I know it will on full lock.

I don't really need them for the street though just the drags so would 225s rub in a straight line?

I wouldnt bother with a 15" drag radial on a pulsar. Not enough tyre wall in the size we would use. around a 22/23 x 7/8 on a 13 or 14" rim would be what you'd want. The rim would obviously have to be close to the size of the slick also. and with a decent offset of around +30 or less to keep it away from the struts.

The reason i want the drag radials is so i can compete in Sports Compak class . Also i can use them on the street and they last much longer than full slicks.

ok in that case.

i dont see why a set of 205/50/15 wouldnt be sufficient.

on a set of 15x7 with +35

or you could go 225/40/15 / similar with a 15x8 +30 / +25 with some bolt on flares :D

Now the problem is finding drag radials that small. I think BFG Drags have a 225. Or i could try Toyo Proxys (are they even a drag radial?)

Thanks

Toyo Proxes4 is a upper mid range tyre, the T1-R is their top road tyre, the R888 is their street legal race tyre.....

as for the silverstones, I don't they are ADR approved for road use...specially the slicks.

Those are all circuit tyres. I need drag tyres. Thanks though.

I've heard the BFG drag radials and M&H are good over on honda-tech. The M&H however smallest size appears to be 235/60s/r15 I don't know how they fit them on civics.

If you look at the top10 photos there is some very wide tyres there, they sit well outside the guards. So I think how much lowering you've done and what offset you've got will come into it. Maybe confirm with some of those boys. MRD is at http://www.mrdperformance.biz/frames/mainpage.htm
or Bjorn in Sweden http://www.carmaniacs.net/index_e.html

I've found these which i think will be suitable

http://www.mandhtires.com/store.php?crn ... =cat_click

The 205/60/13s. Wouldn't rub and plenty of sidewall.
