what battery to get

ok its time to get a new battery

i get century batteries "on the cheap" so im wondering which one i should get?

The specs in the century book so i need a size "40", but the battery i currently have is a "50" but its not a century...

im about to install a 12" sub n amp if that makes any difference...

Yeh the Century batteries are pretty good... I got one in my car and its for a EA Falcon and it kicks the car up really well.. I also run an Alpine amp with two Alpine Type S subs . Hmm, I havent got a capacitor and the alternator gives out enough charge for the stereo.

The only disadvantage is that the everytime the bass kicked the dash lights would dim slightly.Would not dim the low or high beams thou...

What i do is, if i listen to beats, i turn the stereo off 5-10 mins before i get home, so it will give the alternator enough time to charge the battery back up..

OK, if you have high power demands on your battery then what you want to do is find the battery that has the smallest physical size and the biggest CCA (Cold Cranking Amps) rating.
However, if you're going to get a bigger battery then I'd recommend getting an altenator with a larger output.

ok iv found a small battery with a CCA of 380 and a RC of 75 which is the time in minutes it will keep its charge but still being used, cant remember what its stands for. hows that sound???

RC stands for reserve capacity ...

or i can get a larger battery with CCA of 450 and RC of 95??

Mate, I have a couple of batteries in the garage that came with my ET and my EXA and they are both 440CCA.
The physical size didn't really matter as both had been relocated to the boot, but I reckon they'd fit in the standard tray.
Just remember: Bigger is Better.

how have u set ya battery up man.
does it look like this

if ya battery is in the boot then i highly recomend u get a sealed battery other wise u HAVE to vent it to atmosphere. the gasses caused when charging will kill u.

and u also have to have a drain going out side of the care incase the battery leaks. i have just had to go threw this to get threw engineering.

i was running a dry cell type before and the police man yelled at me sayin if i was in an accident i would get acid all over me ...i replied with but its a dry cell

u,m yeh he didnt like that and defected my car hahahahaha oh well this is life. persoanlly I would only run a sealed battery in the boot

hmm ill just get the century battery, biggest i can, can get ot for next to nothing and ill risk the acid spill lol, its a battery box like yours justin so will be fine!

battery box like justins will need to be vented to atmosphere drill a small hole in the boot floor(not thru the fuel tank) and run a hose thru where it vents out the top the only safe way to run a battery in the boot is via a sealed battery.

and if ya get pinged for it just say that the N12 turbos came with battery in boot as standard worked for me I only used that line so they wouldnt look under the bonnet ehhheheehehe
