Installing boost Gauge

Post by NZLeprix »

Today i've been "trying" to install one of these.

I connected it onto one of the connections on the throttlebody, (using T connector).
Then took car for a drive, and under full power was reading 0 psi boost..
The needle flicks up and down when you rev the engine. short of the guage being faulty, what else could be wrong?

Ahh kay M8, you have teed into the wrong side of the throttle body.

You have to hunt around for a hose that connects into the manifold AFTER the TB K?

There are a couple of hoses on the top left side of the manifold (looking from above) you can use.

You need an uninterrupted look at the manifold only.

On the last car it had a factory boost guage, so i just connected it on to where that was connected.. however this car had no factory boost guage, i found something on the intake manifold that vaccum hose fits on, it had a cap on it, I just tried connecting it onto that, it measures the IHG thing properly now.. but still won't budge over 0 psi under power..
this bit was on the actual intake manifold

I have mine connected to the same point you do mate.

Altho its connected to the other side of that fitting, and my FPR is fitted to where your boost gauge line is fitted.

Works fine on mine.

everythings look fine, it should be working. id say its a faulty gauge. do you have any of your friends cars with boost gauges you can try out?
By the way, good work on the vid and pics, it makes it alot easier to help out if we can see what your talking about.

I discovered its boost guage.. as when cars off it doesn't sit at 0.. it sits at about -7psi roughly.. so when it was reading 0 psi it was prob pulling 7 psi.. i pulled the guage apart.. and managed to get the needle to sit on 0.. (after alot of pissing around) just tried it on the car now.. and revved the engine and got positive boost pressure.. but I sense that its not measuring vaccum too well.. i really need a new gauge.
