Question Regarding Oil

Post by kixer »

I just let all the oil out of my car (E15ET) because I found out that it hasn't been done in like a year or two. I just need to know whether the oil I've got at my disposal will be suitable. I've got Caltex Halvoline Premium 'Vehicles 1980 onwards'. It also says SAE 20W-50 API SL/CF and that it is suitable for petrol/diesel/turbo vehicles.

So will it be suitable?

should be fine mate, maybe a little thick if you have a few mods to it, but if its fairly stock it will work a treat

Yeah I know but it's so hard to get to and I don't even have $10 :(

Basically I'm asking whether it will like hurt it if I don't change it right away...?

If you don't change the filter now too, it's going to put some crap straight into your new oil.

Alright I put the new oil filter on and replaced the oil. The car is now... no different than before. To be honest I was expecting a perfomance increase or something but I guess this goes to show how little I know.

having decent oil in the car will ensure a longer life for the engine less damage to turbo bushings and engine bearings :) be pleased with ur job its cheaper than rebuilding an engine or replacing a turbo :)

yeh mate no performance to be gained from an oil change unless its been in for like 50 000kms lol, do a full service with fuel filter, leads and plugs and you might find a bit of a difference.

Good to see that some people can still change their own oil tho lol
