Random loose spring found in transaxle driveshaft hole..

I recently finally got around to changing my my box over, but while connecting everything up, i found a little circular, sprung flexible ring floating around in the drive shaft hole in the new box. its kind of like a rubber band, but made of a long, tight, thin metal spring. it could probably fit ov...

In the end, i bought a set of damaged nut extractors- They look like a set of sockets, but round inside, with tapered spiral threads on the inside. They work by cutting a thread on the *outside* of the nut, so after a bit of turning using a breaker bar, the grip they have on the troublesome nut is p...

Transaxle Gear oil filling alternate point- Speedo cbl hole?

Hi, I'm going to change out the oil in the gearbox/transaxle, and the oil fill hole is in a pretty awkward spot- on the side for some random reason. Question, would it be safe and possible to fill it up via the spot where the speedo cable and nylon gear assembly pulls out at the top? Seems a lot les...

Thanks for the advice people! yeah, unfortunately, it is rather tricky to get in there- one is recessed deep into the control arm, with barely space to fit in a socket! (that's the rounded one) (there's a little circular hole in the arm to allow access :S) Gone mad with the RP7 spray every day in th...

Nuts on lower ball joint bracket rounded.. How to fix?

Tried to undo the three nuts that hold the lower ball joint to the steering knuckle and suspension arm today.. And.. On one side, i found one was nastily rounded, and despite using the proper 14mm socket, i managed to damage the edges of one of the nuts on the other side. How in the hell do i fix th...

Points under car for Axle stand positioning. (basic i know)

Hi All; Just bought myself some axle stands for raising the car- however, the stands arent really the right shape for putting them under the side rail lift points near the front wheels under the drivers door hinge. Looks like they would just bend the lift points to me as there is no little slot in t...

Yeah, it's certainly road safe, thats for sure. Im unlikely to be hit! The body kit is ön the want list- hard to get one that is in good condition tho. Its always the first thing that gets buggered, as just cruising the beach esplanade means a scrape or catch before long. My front bar needs some wor...

Cheers for the advice! Yep, i can borrow a pit and the shed there has a gantry we can hoist the engine up with. The intercooler and the random maze of pipework round the engine bay that accomodates it makes things a bit more tricky though. The gregory's book says 'just slide the trans off the engine...

Engine steady / gearbox problem

Took the car up to a mates place to take a good, close look at my ride from below in the pit. We noticed that someone had used a couple house framing bolts to attach the trans to the engine steady. Not good! Decided to pull them out before they broke and put in some proper bolts. A quarter turn, and...

I am quite a fan of the orange look! It's strangely familiar! That interior is one of a kind. The wheels look a bit like Alfa romeo GTV6 or 75 factory alloys.. But they are never that shiny! Awesome. http://forum.n12turbo.com/viewtopic.php?t=8796 Has your paint got mica chips through it too? If you ...

Went a bit crazy taking pics in the engine bay there, but oh well. I took them, so may as well put them up. Looking critically at the thing, there seems to be a hell of a lot of random pipes that just stick out of holes here and there on/ just below the (throttle body?) near where the maze of piping...

The turbo it is running on is an "airresearch"..on the compressor case, but has a garrett plaque on the space between the turbine and the compressor
