... a rebuild and upgraded E16S and rebuild gearbox in. Engine specs: Sunny B12 E16S fully rebuild, light porting on intake, Weber 32/36 DGEV, Dbilas camshaft, header and a 2" exhaust. Before i fitted the rebuild RS5F30A-gearbox i fitted a lightened E13 flywheel. 1.jpg 2.jpg

I know what he did. He removed the cam cover backplate to change the seal, removed the gasket and didnt use a gasket when reassembling it all. Camshaft endfloat is set by this gasket and without a gasket there, the ally cover has locked up the cam. Oracle Similar problem happened to a friends ...

He removed the cam cover backplate to change the seal, removed the gasket and didnt use a gasket when reassembling it all.
Camshaft endfloat is set by this gasket and without a gasket there, the ally cover has locked up the cam.

I suspect the camshaft got unevenly worn down because the rocker shaft wasn't exactly aligned as it should be, it was a bit off and it may have caused bad lubrication, warping the #4 exhaust lobe as a result and wearing down all ...

Possible camshaft issues...

... test before concluding it's the cam that's causing the chuff-chuff problem. May be piston rings just as well. If it turns out to be the camshaft, is there enough room in the engine bay to replace the camshaft (including rocker shaft and arms of course) without taking the head off? Thanks!
