That's a good bit of detective work! #1 at drivers side.
Yep, you have blown the gasket between #3 and #4. Head will have to come off and change the gasket over, then you will need to sus out why it was detonating to cause the failure. How much hotter is/was the engine running?

that sounds like the same problem i'm having at present with my exa - ultra low idle at 560rpm and a terrible squeal from the alternator belt when taking off. i've got a blown manifold gasket so maybe that is the reason?

The pump/sender unit is a little tricky to get out and needs to be turned this way and that but it will come out.
Make sure you replace those 3 fuel lines with new and T-bolt clamps while your at it.
If the Volvo pump is an intank type then yes.

That head gasket was well blown!
