Hmm, think your finger is pointing vaguely in my direction, tassuperkart! Yes, a lesson, for sure, and the only answer I can give is no answer at all; in 39 years I've never had a prang in any of my cars. Yup, I just didn't expect it to happen. Anyway, I have a heap of stuff to give away in the For ...

Hello again It's been a while, but things are finally coming to a resolve regarding the insurance payout for my car, and I basically need some sort of value, if possible. Basically, it's been a fight between me and the NMRA as to the value of the car. They at first offered market value, which I reje...

Re; buying another body. Yeah, thought about that, but t the moment, lots of things are up in the air, including work - it's boring as hell, and after the prang, figured life is too short to be working in something I'm not enjoying (I mean, the office politics - you really don't want to know). Also ...

Yup, I know it's a wreck now.
Bastard.
Ah well, as one door closes, another one opens.
Yes, I'd rather sell whatever parts I could, rather than crush it all.
Anyone here interested?

Re; insurance I just had third party property insurance. Talked to a lawyer about the money and attention I've spent on it, and that the other guy's insurance will prob just offer the market value, which will not be much. He suggested I have a good case to get some money back, with receipts, etc. An...

end of the road

http://i1022.photobucket.com/albums/af341/paulthew/IMG_4903.jpg A few days ago http://i1022.photobucket.com/albums/af341/paulthew/IMG_4934.jpg Yesterday Well, that's it, folks. Mum bought the thing new in 1983, and when she died, dad drive it, and when he died a couple of years ago, I have been dri...

My (basic) understanding is that the better quality oils have had more testing, and have more additives included, the latter helping keep the oil in better condition throughout its service life, and helping remove gunk from the engine by suspending it in the oil. I remember the days when old oil wou...

I remember back in the 80s talking to one of the Castrol lab techs about the oil in my motorcycle.
I was using the cheapest available, and his (suprisingly honest) reply was that so long as I changed it regulary, all was good. The issue was changing the stuff - the more often, the better.

Bog stock N12 (E15 motor), auto, hatchback. I always fill up to the same spot in the fuel pipe. Always. I also always work out the fuel consumption while at the pump, so I can see if it's starting to use more fuel, etc. On the open road, I average 90-100km/h, using on average 6.5lt/100km (best was 5...

Yes, two manuals - a workshop one (official Nissan), and one of the Gregory ones. Both say .28mm. I know it's not crucial to be EXACTLY at .28mm - it's not an F15 jet engine - but I'd like to get as close as possible. The engine is not making any valve noise, btw I'll re-do them, and get it so it's ...

checking valve clearance

Decided to check the valve clearance the other day, and it was such a beautiful day, rather than do it at home, did it in a lovely location. Very pleasant, indeed. As far as using a feeler guage, any suggestions? I did it so it slid in and out, just 'sticking' a little...not smoothly in and out, but...

"You have to get to them before the wreckers"

Yeah, it would have been awesome. Not a hint of rust anywhere, either.

Thought as much.
Saw a manual gearbox for $150 somewhere else, so figured $440 was way off the mark.
Cheers
